Biographie

Parc-X Trio  is an instrumental jazz group featuring Gabriel Vinuela-Pelletier (piano), Alex Lefaivre (bass) and Mark Nelson (drums). Their original compositions are a cinematic soundtrack to their urban surroundings. Hailing from Parc-Extension, Montreals most multicultural borough, the band sets itself apart from the pack by creating an original sound that mixes elements of pop, classical, jazz as well as world music. They are known for their high-energy shows and their charismatic stage presence. The band’s first album, Parc-X Trio, has been critically acclaimed and shows a surprisingly mature sound. They won The TD Grand Prize at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in 2010 and are currently working on the second album.

This first album has been getting regular airplay on such radio stations as Espace Musique (CBC), Planète Jazz, CISM, CIBL, CKUT and WBGO. The trio frequently plays Montreal’s best jazz clubs such as Upstairs, House of Jazz, Dièse Onze and Bily Kun. A true road band, Parc-X Trio are making their trips through the provinces of Ontario and Quebec more frequent. They will be performing this August at the Zacatecas International Jazz and Blues as well as Montreal’s OFF Festival de Jazz in October. Parc-X Trio will also perform at the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal as well as the Festi Jazz International de Rimouski in 2011.

A first class trio emerging from our local scene.”

André Vigeant, Radio-Canada/CBC

« Comprised of original compositions that encompass pop music’s melodicism, bebop’s virtuosity and well as classical music’s elegance, their first album is a strong statement indeed. »
